Words of Encouragement

It’s tragic to know Psalm 23 but not know the Shepherd.

David encourages us in Psalm 23:1 not just to know the Shepherd, but to place your faith in Jehovah Rohi.

In life, we all follow someone; who is your shepherd?

THE SUBJECT OF MY FAITH

A subject is a person, place or thing. It’s important who you place your trust in.

Show me the object of your faith and i will tell you how weak or how strong your faith is.

Who are you depending on to take care of you?

Who are you relying on to be there with you in time of a crisis?

THE SHEPHERD’S POSITION

The present tense verb “is” means present not was. Not just in David’s day, but even in 2024, he is.

“my” which is a personal, possessive pronoun.

Notice that David did not say, “the lord is a shepherd,” or “the lord is the shepherd,” this makes it impersonal.

Notice that David did not say “the lord is “a” shepherd,” suggests one among many.

Notice that David did not say “the lord is “the” shepherd,” suggests not personal.

Notice that David did not say “the lord is “our” shepherd,” suggests a crowd.

Notice that David said, “the lord is “my” shepherd,” suggests personal relationship, which means that you can get close to him.

If the shepherd is slack, the sheep will be sickly.

SHEPHERD

Rohi means “to feed,” “to tend,” or “lead to pasture.”

Many of us trust god to get us to heaven but lack conviction that he will help or lead us through our physical life.

IT'S OK TO TRUST HIM; HE’S GOT IT

This interpretation of this word “lack” in this case means to be missing or deficient; to be in need of something

This verse does not mean we get anything we want, but that the lord is everything we need and more

A shepherd has responsibility for the welfare of his sheep.

The quality of life enjoyed by any flock depends entirely on their shepherd

He does not take them out and leaves them to fend for themselves.

If the shepherd is slack, the sheep will be sickly

What does psalm 23 means for us today?

My shepherd leads me – he is a mighty good leader

My shepherd protects me

My shepherd provides for me.

Be encouraged and keep the faith in Jehovah Rohi.
